I am going to try to write a poem to match each day of Tracia Calvert’s art blog:  100 Paintings in 100 Days.  I welcome comments and suggestions.

The Pear

The first day

a pear

painted in shades of green and yellow

sits idly on a silver table.

It calls to me,

not to eat,

but to contemplate the movement

of its stillness.

The background of rose hues

embracing, surrounding, encapsulating

are like the warmth

of a loving brush.

This pear,

is not the forbidden apple.

It is a fruit of beginning, not end

a fruit of joy, not pain

a fruit of hope, not despair.

This pair

begins a cycle.
